Hurricane Rita's Impact Felt in the Mississippi Delta Home of the Myers Family!
Photograph of the mobile home of the Myers Family in Belzoni, Mississippi
with the roof covered with plastic after being damaged by Katrina. Two tornados
recently touched down in Belzoni causing one death as a result of hurricane Rita.
Thank you for your phones calls and e-mails. The family and I are safe and have not been harmed form the two tornados that came through Belzoni, Mississippi. The kids had to take cover in the back of the Super Value Food Store as the tornados began to come down from the sky and meet the ground. Unfortunately, a mobile home was turned upside down and someone died and other folks were injured.
The carpenters were able to get enough of the roof fixed so that we still have a dry home with only a small part of the roof leaking. They started putting up the roof yesterday morning before the bad weather from Rita started. They were able to work on the roof up until the point of the tornados showing up. We are truly thankful to God answering our prayers to hold back the wind and the rain until the roof could be mostly covered.
Thank you for you prayers and support. We thank the Lord that we made it through Katrina and now Rita without loss of life or home. So many thousands of other families have not been so fortunate. We must continue to assist the unfortunate.
Of course, we had to cancel our trip to affect rural areas in Louisiana and Mississippi with supplies. Now we have to assess the damage right here in our home of Belzoni, Mississippi.
